Centre Reopens PLI Scheme Application Window for ACs and LED Lights

New Delhi, September 14 (HS): The central government has announced the reopening of the application window for the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme in the domestic appliance sector, covering air conditioners and LED lights. The window will remain open for 30 days, from September 15 to October 14.

According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, applications can be submitted through the online portal (https://pliwg.dpiit.gov.in) during this period. No applications will be accepted once the window closes.

The Union Cabinet had originally approved the PLI scheme for manufacturing components and sub-assemblies of ACs and LED lighting on April 7, 2021. The program is aimed at strengthening domestic manufacturing, accelerating India’s growth trajectory, and generating employment opportunities.The scheme is designed to run for seven years, up to FY 2028–29, with a total financial outlay of ₹6,238 crore.
