
Jakarta , 8 June (H.S.): Chou Tien-chen of Taiwan defeated world number one Kunlavut Vitidsarn 21-16, 23-21 at the Indonesia Open in Jakarta, advancing to the final against Anders Antonsen, who overcame defending champion Shi Yuqi. Despite Vitidsarn leading 5-1 in both games, the 35-year-old Chou demonstrated resilience for his first final since the Taipei Open.
Antonsen faced Shi, who won the first game 21-9, but Antonsen fought back, ultimately winning 9-21, 21-18, 21-19, marking his first victory over Shi since January 2024. In the women’s event, top seed An Se-young of South Korea beat third-seeded Akane Yamaguchi 21-18, 21-17, reaching her third Indonesia Open final. An will compete against Chinese world number two Wang Zhiyi, who triumphed over Han Yue with a score of 21-12, 21-13 in 39 minutes.
