Srinagar, Jan 13 (KINS): Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) on Tuesday said it executed proclamation orders against three absconding accused involved in a serious case related to “anti-national and unlawful activities”.
The proclamation proceedings as per statement issued to news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) were carried out in compliance with the orders issued by the Court of the Special Judge designated under the NIA Act at Srinagar.
“The action was taken in areas falling under the jurisdiction of Srinagar and Kupwara districts in connection with FIR No. 07/2020, registered at Police Station CIK under Sections 153-A and 505 of the IPC and Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA)”.
“The absconding accused have been identified as Mubeen Ahmad Shah, son of late Ali Mohammad Shah, resident of Buchwara, Srinagar; Aziz-ul-Hassan Ashai alias Tony Ashai, son of Nazir Ahmad Ashai, resident of Dock Wali Colony, Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar; and Rifat Wani, daughter of Ghulam Mohammad Wani, resident of Trehgam, Kupwara.
According to CIK, the case pertains to grave offences posing a serious threat to public order, communal harmony and national integrity. The investigation has conclusively revealed a well-orchestrated conspiracy allegedly hatched by anti-social and anti-national elements acting at the behest of secessionist forces operating from within and outside Kashmir”.
“During the investigation, it surfaced that the accused deliberately posed as journalists, freelancers and operators of news portals, while in reality running a covert digital propaganda campaign. By misusing social media platforms such as Facebook, X (formerly Twitter) and WhatsApp, they allegedly created and circulated fake, motivated, exaggerated, secessionist and out-of-context content”.
Investigators said the objective of the campaign was to incite street violence, disrupt normal civic life, provoke damage to public property, disturb public order and fuel mass unrest, thereby promoting anti-national sentiments and attempting to create disaffection against the Union of India.
CIK reiterated that freedom of expression cannot be allowed to be misused as a tool against the nation. It warned that any individual or group attempting to camouflage unlawful, secessionist or communal activities under the guise of journalism or online activism will face swift, stringent and legally robust action.
The proclamation order issued by the Court states: “It is hereby notified that if the absconding accused fail to appear before the Hon’ble Court within the stipulated time, their movable and immovable properties shall be attached strictly in accordance with law.”
Counter Intelligence Kashmir further issued a clear warning that those exploiting digital platforms to spread hatred, misinformation, communal disharmony or anti-national propaganda are under constant surveillance. The agency asserted that the law will reach every such offender, with no escape, no immunity and zero tolerance for acts that endanger the peace, unity and sovereignty of the nation.(KINS)
