Delhi, 17 April (H.S.): In a significant step to enhance transparency and efficiency in coal import monitoring, the Ministry of Coal has launched the Coal Import Monitoring System (CIMS). This digital platform facilitates real-time tracking and informed decision-making on coal imports, aligning with the Government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision. Coal importers must now register consignment details on the CIMS portal before their shipments arrive in Indian ports.
To simplify processes, the Ministry has adjusted the CIMS registration fee to a flat rate of Rs. 500 per consignment, effective April 15, 2025. This new fee structure replaces the previous tiered fees ranging from Rs. 500 to Rs. 1,00,000, and it aligns CIMS with other Import Monitoring Systems like SIMS, NFIMS, and PIMS, which also utilize a flat fee model.
Importers must obtain an Automatic Registration Number from the CIMS portal to include in the Bill of Entry for customs clearance, reinforcing the Ministry’s commitment to improving trade facilitation and regulatory processes for India’s industrial growth.
