Jammu, Jan 13 (KINS):The Congress party celebrated the festival of Lohri on Tuesday at the PCC Headquarters, Shaheedi Chowk, Jammu, in a traditional and festive manner.
J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra was the chief guest, while Working President Raman Bhalla attended as the guest of honour. The event was organised by the JKPCC in collaboration with the District Congress Committee (DCC) Jammu Urban, led by former minister Yogesh Sawhney, and DCC Jammu Rural, led by former AICC Secretary Neeraj Kundan.
Several senior party leaders and workers attended the celebration. A traditional Lohri fire was lit, and groundnuts, rewari and sweets were distributed among the participants. Party leaders exchanged greetings and offered prayers for peace, happiness, and brotherhood in society.
Speaking on the occasion, Tariq Hameed Karra extended warm Lohri greetings to the people. He said festivals bring people of all religions together and spread the message of humanity, love, peace and togetherness. He added that such celebrations help remove hatred and division from society.
Karra stressed that politics of hate should be defeated to create an atmosphere of harmony and mutual respect. He expressed hope that the spirit of Lohri would strengthen unity, brotherhood and goodwill among people.(KINS)
