Congress Suspends MLC Naveen Kumar for Anti-Party Activities

New Delhi, 1 March (H.S.): The Congress in Telangana has suspended MLC Naveen Kumar, also known as Teenmaar Mallanna, from the party for alleged anti-party activities. Mallanna was suspended after criticizing and burning a caste survey report released by the Telangana government in February.

The Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) served him a show cause notice on February 5. Mallanna’s suspension was based on his repeated tirade against the Congress party. The DAC Chairperson, Dr G Chinna Reddy, criticized Mallanna for pursuing his own agenda and disregarding the party’s interests.

Mallanna, a Telugu journalist, gained popularity in the early 2000s and is known for his satirical views on socio-political issues. He joined the Telangana Congress in November 2023, ahead of the Telangana Assembly elections.
