
Seoul, March 13 (H.S.): The Constitutional Court of South Korea unanimously dismissed the impeachment cases against the top auditor and three prosecutors on Thursday. The impeachment motions were passed by the opposition-led National Assembly against the four individuals. President Yoon Suk-yeol is also facing impeachment in the Constitutional Court, which is expected to deliver a ruling soon. According to The Korea Times, President Yoon Suk-yeol’s impeachment case is related to a brief declaration of martial law made on December 3.
Following the Constitutional Court’s ruling, the three senior prosecutors – Lee Chang-soo, Cho Sang-won, and Choi Jae-hun – resumed their duties. Choi expressed gratitude to the Constitutional Court for this. The ruling People Power Party praised the unanimous decision made on the four impeachment cases. A statement from the president’s spokesperson mentioned, The dismissal of all four impeachment cases by the Constitutional Court serves as a warning to the opposition.
