CSK remains hopeful for playoffs despite fifth consecutive loss

New Delhi, April 12 (H.S.): The performance of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) has been extremely disappointing so far. After suffering a heavy defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday (April 11), the team has lost its fifth match in a row and has slipped to ninth place in the points table. Nevertheless, the team’s batting coach Michael Hussey believes that CSK can still secure a place in the playoffs.

After the loss to Kolkata, Michael Hussey said, We are not ready to give up just yet. The tournament is long and it is only necessary to reach fourth place. Yes, we currently have no momentum, and we acknowledge that we are not playing good cricket. But that doesn’t mean things cannot change.

He further stated, If we can secure one or two victories, the team’s confidence will return, and then anything can happen. We are confident that we can reach the last four in the table.

Following CSK’s continuous losses, calls for changes in the team are growing, but Hussey does not agree with this. He said, This is a time to stay united, not to change everything. We can’t suddenly tell our players, who are used to playing in a certain way, to play in a completely different manner. CSK has always believed in stability, and we must hold on to that.

Amid questions about not giving young players opportunities, Hussey emphasized the value of experience. He said, Players like Shane Watson and Ajinkya Rahane delivered outstanding performances for CSK in the twilight of their careers. I still believe that our experienced players can contribute significantly to the team.

Michael Hussey stated that head coach Stephen Fleming, captain MS Dhoni, and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who has stayed with the team despite injuries, will keep the team united. He also appealed to CSK fans to continue their support.

He added, We still have talent, and we can get through this situation. But it will require hard work. Our fan base has been fantastic from the start, and we hope they will stand by us during this tough time.
