Decreasing tariff war concerns boost global markets

Mixed signals from global markets, Asian markets generally bullish

New Delhi, April 15 (H.S.): The effect of U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to provide relief to countries other than China regarding the tariff war is clearly visible in markets around the world today. The U.S. markets closed strongly in the previous session. Dow Jones futures are also showing an upward trend today. Similarly, European markets succeeded in gaining more than two percent in the last session. The Asian markets are also showing a bullish trend today.

Due to the reduced concerns over the tariff war, the U.S. markets continued to trade strongly in the last session, resulting in Wall Street indices closing higher. The S&P 500 index jumped 0.79 percent to close at 5,405.97 points. Likewise, the Nasdaq ended the previous session with a rise of 107.03 points, or 0.64 percent, at 16,831.48 points. Dow Jones futures are currently trading with an increase of 0.08 percent at 40,557.85 points.

The European markets also experienced a significant bullish atmosphere during the previous session. The FTSE index succeeded in jumping 170.16 points, or 2.09 percent, to reach 8,134.34 points. Similarly, the CAC index ended the previous session with an increase of 168.32 points, or 2.31 percent, at 7,273.12 points. Additionally, the DAX index closed with a gain of 580.73 points, or 2.77 percent, at 20,954.83 points.

The Asian markets are also witnessing a bullish trend today. Out of 9 markets in Asia, 7 indices are trading firmly in the green, while one index is in the red with a decline. Meanwhile, due to a holiday in Thailand’s stock market, the SET Composite Index is not trading today. The only exception among the Asian markets, the Shanghai Composite Index is currently trading at 3,260.55 points, down by 0.07 percent.

On the other hand, the GIFT Nifty is trading at 23,369 points, up by 346.50 points, or 1.51 percent. Similarly, the KOSPI index has increased by 0.94 percent, reaching 2,478.97 points. The Taiwan Weighted Index has made a significant leap today, currently trading at 19,879.66 points, up by 366.57 points, or 1.88 percent. The Straits Times Index has also increased by 1.83 percent, reaching 3,613.76 points. Additionally, the Nikkei Index is up by 395.76 points, or 1.16 percent, trading at 34,378.12 points, while the Jakarta Composite Index is up by 1.15 percent, reaching 6,441.85 points, and the Hang Seng Index is trading at 21,457.61 points, up by 0.19 percent.
