Delhi Capitals beat Mumbai Indians by 2 wickets on the last ball

Vadodara, 15 February (HS): In the second match of Women’s Premier League 2025, Delhi Capitals defeated Mumbai Indians by 2 wickets in a thrilling match that went till the last ball. In this match, Mumbai scored 164 runs while playing first, in response to which Delhi ensured victory by running two runs on the last ball.

In this match played at Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, Mumbai Indians lost the toss and batted first and scored 164 runs. For Mumbai, Nat Sciver Brunt played an unbeaten innings of 80 runs and captain Harmanpreet Kaur contributed 42 runs. While eight batsmen of Mumbai could not even touch the double digit mark. For Delhi, Anna Sutherland took the maximum of 3 wickets and Shikha Pandey also took two wickets. While Minnu Mani and Alice Capsi got one success each.

Delhi Capitals had a very good start chasing the target of 165 runs. Captain Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma took the team’s score past 60 in the powerplay itself. Lanning was out after scoring 15 runs. While Shafali played an innings of 43 runs in 18 balls. When Delhi seemed to be moving away from victory in the middle overs, Nikki Prasad played a slow but important innings of 35 runs to take the team closer to victory.

In the last over, Delhi needed 10 runs to win and had three wickets in hand. However, Nikki Prasad reduced the pressure on the team by hitting a four on the first ball of the 20th over. Then took two runs on the next ball. After this, one run was scored on the third and fourth balls respectively. In this way, two runs were needed on two balls to win. Then Nikki got out on the fifth ball. Then once again Mumbai had hope in the game. But Arundhati Reddy ensured Delhi’s victory by running two runs on the last ball.
