Rouse Avenue Court, Delhi

New Delhi, March 17 (HS): The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has directed the Delhi Police to provide a copy of the charge sheet to the complainant and Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha in connection with the case of violating COVID-19 restrictions and vandalism at the Delhi Jal Board office in 2020. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Paras Dalal has scheduled the next hearing in the case for April 7.

Raghav Chadha filed a petition in court seeking monitoring of this case. He had reported the matter to the Delhi Police in 2020. Based on Raghav Chadha’s complaint, the Delhi Police registered an FIR at the Desh Bandhu Gupta police station. In this case, BJP MP Yogendra Chandolia, BJP leader Aadesh Gupta, Ravi Tanwar, and Vikas Tanwar have been implicated. The Delhi Police filed a charge sheet in this case under Sections 188, 269, 147, 148, 149, and 427 of the Indian Penal Code, as well as Section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and the Pandemic Act. The Tis Hazari Court had taken cognizance of the charge sheet on April 29.

During today’s hearing, Aadesh Gupta appeared physically in court, while Yogendra Chandolia appeared via video conferencing. Raghav Chadha requested exemption from court appearance due to his engagement in the parliamentary session, which was granted. Initially, this case was being heard in the Tis Hazari Court. When Yogendra Chandolia became an MP, the hearing was transferred from the Tis Hazari Court to the MP-MLA Special Court at Rouse Avenue.
