New Delhi, April 24 (H.S.): The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has reprimanded the Tihar Jail administration for placing Christian Michel, an accused in the Agusta Westland scam, near a prison ward where gangsters are housed. Special Judge Sanjeev Agarwal stated that the jail administration should treat inmates with humanity, as such actions tarnish the country’s image abroad.

The Tihar Jail administration submitted a report in court claiming that there is no threat to Christian Michel. During a previous hearing, the court had asked the jail administration why Michel was kept with another inmate, Shah Nawaz, who has nine pending cases related to extortion and the anti-goonda act. On April 3, during a hearing, Michel had claimed that there were attempts to poison him in jail, following which the court issued a notice to the Tihar Jail administration.

Michel has already been granted bail in both CBI and ED cases related to the Agusta helicopter scam. The Delhi High Court granted him bail in a money laundering case on March 4. The Supreme Court has already granted Michel bail in a case related to the CBI.
