
New Delhi, May 6 (H.S.): The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to Amanatullah Khan, the Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Okhla, in connection with a new FIR filed against him for allegedly leading an attack on a police team in Jamia Nagar. This notice has been issued while hearing a petition filed by the Delhi Police challenging the anticipatory bail granted to Amanatullah Khan by the trial court in this case. A bench of Justice Ravindra Dudeja has scheduled the next hearing of the case on August 27.
On February 25, the Rouse Avenue Court granted anticipatory bail to Amanatullah Khan. The Delhi Police filed an FIR against him on February 11 for allegedly leading the attack on a police team in Jamia Nagar. According to the police, Amanatullah Khan is accused of aiding the fugitive accused Shabaz Khan in escaping from police custody. According to the Delhi Police, the Crime Branch team attempted to arrest Shabazz Khan, but he managed to escape due to a confrontation with the police team by supporters of Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan.
A case filed by the CBI and ED regarding irregularities in the recruitment of the Delhi Waqf Board is ongoing against Amanatullah Khan in Rouse Avenue Court. The ED arrested Amanatullah Khan on September 2, 2024. According to the ED, Amanatullah Khan is the main accused in the irregularities related to the recruitment of the Delhi Waqf Board. On March 1, 2023, the Sessions Court at Rouse Avenue Court acquitted Amanatullah Khan in a case of obstructing a municipal anti-encroachment campaign in the Madanpur Khadar area of South Delhi.
