New Delhi, April 11 (H.S.): Delhi Mayor Mahesh Kumar has formally requested the removal of MCD Commissioner Ashwani Kumar in a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He emphasized the need for a new commissioner who possesses a positive mindset and is committed to the welfare of Delhi’s residents.

The Mayor highlighted that the MCD is the largest autonomous body in India, tasked with providing essential civic amenities and maintaining the city’s cleanliness. He expressed concern over the recent indifferent conduct of the commissioner, which he believes hampers effective coordination among officials.

Kumar criticized the imposition of user charges on residents without prior consultation with Corporation House and stated that his attempts to address this issue had been ignored by the commissioner. He urged Amit Shah to intervene for the sake of public interest and ensure a responsive leadership in the MCD.

It is noteworthy that earlier, against user charges, the MCD Mayor had written a letter to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday.
