New Delhi, Aug 23 (HS): The Delhi Premier League has been a roller-coaster ride for Purani Dilli 6 this season. The campaign began on a disastrous note with a crushing 82-run defeat against Outer Delhi Warriors, but the team bounced back impressively with back-to-back wins in their following encounters.
However, consistency has eluded them. Consecutive losses to North Delhi Strikers by 27 runs and East Delhi Riders by 5 wickets once again derailed their progress. The second half of the tournament brought more setbacks, as they went down to South Delhi Superstars by 46 runs and suffered another defeat to East Delhi Riders by 21 runs.
On Saturday, Purani Dilli 6 will look to revive their campaign when they take on West Delhi Lions at Arun Jaitley Stadium. With the playoff hopes hanging by a thread, every match from here is nothing short of a do-or-die clash.
We know exactly where we stand. The boys are aware of what’s at stake, and now it’s all about belief and executing plans with discipline. From here onwards, every match is a final for us, said team owner Aakash Nangia, ahead of the crunch tie.
The side will continue to bank on opener Samarth Seth’s consistency, Dev Lakda’s explosive middle-order batting, and skipper Vansh Bedi’s all-round abilities. The bowling unit, too, will have to step up at crucial moments if the team is to stay alive in the tournament.
After the West Delhi Lions fixture, Purani Dilli 6 still have two tough matches lined up – against Central Delhi Kings on August 25 and South Delhi Superstars on August 27 – making Saturday’s contest a must-win.
Purani Dilli 6 squad: Vansh Bedi (captain), Rishabh Pant (marquee player), Lalit Yadav, Dev Lakra, Aayush Singh, Samarth Seth, Aarush Malhotra, Sarthak Pal, Agrim Sharma, Vivek Yadav, Yug Gupta, Udhav Mohan, Pranav Pant, Prince Mishra, Rushal Saini, Aaryan Kapoor, Pardeep Parashar, Ekansh Dobal, Aditya Malhotra, Rajneesh Dadar, Ashish Chaurasiya, Kush Nagpal, Dhruv Chauhan, Gaurav Saroha.
