Unique Diwali Celebrations at Los Angeles City Council Premises .

On the auspicious occasion of Diwali, the Los Angeles City Council hosted a special celebration, in collaboration with the Consulate General of India, Los Angeles. First ever Indian American City Council member Hon’ble Ms Nithya Raman organized the event.

The event featured the lighting of traditional lamps, cultural performances of Indian music and dance, and the presentation of a Diwali Proclamation by City Council Members Hon’ble Nithya Raman, Hon’ble John Lee and Hon’ble Tim McOsker, who warmly welcomed the new Consul General Dr K J Srinivasa. The event was graced by the presence of Former Mayor of Los Angeles and U.S. Ambassador to India, Mr. Eric Garcetti , Indian Diaspora leaders and members from across the region.

This event was historic moment as the Los Angeles City Hall was illuminated for the first time ever to celebrate Diwali, symbolizing light, hope, and unity with both Indian and American communities.

The Consulate extended its gratitude to the City of Los Angeles for the wonderful gesture of friendship and recognition of the Indo-American community’s contribution to the city’s vibrant multicultural fabric.

Members of the public witnessed the illumination, celebrating the Festival of Lights together in the spirit of harmony and togetherness.
