Djokovic advances to Wimbledon semifinals for 14th time

Novak Djokovic

London, July 10(HS): Novak Djokovic defeated Flavio Cobolli 6-7(6), 6-2, 7-5, 6-4, advancing to the semifinals of Wimbledon 2025, marking his 14th semifinal appearance at the All England Club. At 38, Djokovic aims for his eighth Wimbledon title and a total of 25 Grand Slam victories. He will face top seed Jannik Sinner in the semifinals, with a potential final match against Carlos Alcaraz or Taylor Fritz.

After the match, he reflected on the significance of Wimbledon in his career, expressing honor in competing at this age. Djokovic highlighted Cobolli’s strong performance and acknowledged the young player’s skills, saying, “Congratulations to Cobolli for this wonderful tournament and today’s battle. He displayed a very high level of play.”

Cobolli, the 22nd seed and former football player for Roma, made a notable comeback in the first set but ultimately succumbed to Djokovic’s experience in the following sets. Despite moments of frustration, Djokovic maintained focus and sealed his victory.

After the match, he said, I slipped, and that moment was a bit strange, but I composed myself and managed to finish the match.

With this victory, Novak Djokovic has surpassed Roger Federer’s Wimbledon semifinal record, making his 52nd Grand Slam semifinal appearance — a new history in itself.
