DPIIT reviews mega infrastructure projects worth ₹14,096 crores in four states

New Delhi, April 23 (H.S): The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) reviewed mega infrastructure projects located in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Uttarakhand. The total cost of these large-scale infrastructure projects exceeds ₹14,096 crores.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry stated in a statement on Wednesday that DPIIT Secretary Amardeep Bhatia chaired a high-level meeting to review the large-scale infrastructure projects in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Uttarakhand. The review meeting, organized under the auspices of the Project Monitoring Group, included representatives from central ministries, state governments, and project proponents.

According to the ministry, during the meeting, 19 issues concerning 17 important projects were reviewed. The total cost of these projects exceeds ₹14,096 crores. The meeting focused on enhancing inter-ministerial and inter-state coordination to expedite the resolution of implementation challenges. Key projects reviewed during the meeting included the Jaunpur-Akbarpur road project, which is being developed into a four-lane road at a cost of ₹3,164.72 crores. This project includes two major issues within two work packages and is crucial for improving regional connectivity and road infrastructure.

Amardeep Bhatia reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening the institutional framework for project monitoring and urged all stakeholders to adopt an active approach to issue resolution. He encouraged private sector participants to actively engage with the PMG platform (https://pmg.dpiit.gov.in/) to accelerate project implementation by leveraging better coordination with the government and other key entities.
