Dr. Jitendra Singh Hails Indo-German 2+2 University and Industry Collaboration

Minister-President of the German State of Bavaria, Markus Söder called on Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of Statefor Science & Technology, Earth Sciences; reiterates strong collaboration between the two nations

Delhi, 13 April (H.S.): In a pivotal diplomatic and scientific exchange, Bavaria’s Minister-President Markus Söder met with Dr. Jitendra Singh, India’s Union Minister of State for Science & Technology, to emphasize strong Indo-German collaboration. Their one-on-one discussions were followed by a high-level meeting involving delegations from both countries.

Dr. Singh highlighted the longstanding cooperation in Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI), and identified key areas for future collaboration, such as Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Technologies, Biotechnology, Clean Energy, and Green Hydrogen. He stressed India’s commitment to sustainable solutions through scientific interventions and recognized Germany as a vital partner.

Dr. Singh praised the innovative Indo-German 2+2 collaboration model, which unites academia and industry to address global challenges. He also reflected on the Golden Jubilee of the Indo-German S&T Partnership celebrated last year and the recent governing body meeting that solidified this commitment.

Moreover, he noted India’s significant achievements in the biotech sector and the recent BIOe3 policy aimed at stimulating future biotechnology advancements.

Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted India’s rise as a biotech leader, boasting over 3000 startups and the launch of the BIOe3 policy, which promotes Energy, Economy, and Employment through biotech innovation. He noted India’s Space-Tech and Nuclear sectors are now accessible to private enterprises, presenting significant collaborative prospects. With India ranking 3rd globally in startups and unicorns, it has become an attractive hub for tech partnerships.

Dr.Jitendra Singh emphasized the deepening academic ties with Germany, evidenced by over 50,000 Indian students in STEM fields at German universities, a figure that has tripled in seven years. He urged for a reciprocal increase in German students in India, focusing on Oriental Studies, Indian Culture, and Traditional Knowledge Systems. He expressed hope that Germany would continue to attract Indian youth to its academic landscape while encouraging German students to explore India’s rich intellectual and scientific heritage.

Dr Jitendra Singh also recounted his recent trip to Berlin, noting the rising popularity of Indian cuisine among locals. The meeting included representation from various senior delegates from both India and Germany.
