
Vadodara, 14 March (H.S.): A tragic road accident in Vadodara’s Karelibag area has resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries, following a collision caused by an allegedly drunk driver late Thursday night.
CCTV footage reveals the driver losing control of his speeding black car, which crashed into a two-wheeler and struck several pedestrians at the Amrapali Chaar Rasta intersection.
One victim, Hemaliben Patel, was killed instantly, while others—including Jaini (12), Nishaben (35), an unidentified 10-year-old girl, and a 40-year-old man—sustained serious injuries. Emergency services transported the injured to a local hospital for treatment.
Disturbingly, the driver emerged from the wreckage inebriated, exhibiting erratic behavior, as evidenced by video that has since circulated online. He was reportedly shouting phrases such as Another round, another round!.
Local authorities promptly detained the driver, with police confirming he was intoxicated.
According to reports quoting police, the driver, identified as Rakshit Ravish Chaurasia, a law student at MS University, was under the influence of alcohol when he lost control of the vehicle.
Leena Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police, stated that investigations are ongoing, including inquiries into potential narcotics involvement.
