Dual Injury Setback Sidelines Nitish Reddy from First Three T20Is Against Australia

Nitish Reddy

Delhi, 29 October (H.S.): Team India’s preparations for the T20 series against Australia have been dealt a blow, as all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the first three matches due to injury. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed in a statement on Wednesday that Reddy has not yet regained full fitness and will remain under the supervision of the medical staff.Reddy is currently contending with two separate fitness issues.

He was initially in rehabilitation for a left quadriceps injury that he sustained during the second ODI in Adelaide. His recovery was further complicated by a recent neck spasm, which has hampered his movement and training progress. Consequently, the team management has decided to rest him as a precautionary measure.

The BCCI statement clarified that Reddy’s condition is being closely monitored, and a decision regarding his availability for the final two matches of the five-match series will be made in due course.Reddy’s absence presents a challenge for India’s team balance.

He has been impressive with his all-round abilities in recent months, making significant contributions in both the IPL and on the current tour of Australia. His unavailability will force the team to reconsider its middle-order composition and bowling options. Should his recovery proceed as planned, Reddy may be available for selection for the last two T20 fixtures.
