Early trading boosts Sensex and Nifty

New Delhi, April 21 (H.S.): The domestic stock market appears to be buzzing with enthusiasm on the first trading day of the week. Today’s trading began on a strong note. However, after the market opened, there was some selling for profit booking for a short while. Despite this, the stock market remained consistently in the green zone. Following the initial 15 minutes of selling, buyers intensified their purchases, which led to a rally in both the Sensex and Nifty indexes. As a result of this buying, the Sensex successfully crossed the 79,000 points mark and the Nifty surpassed the 24,000 points level. By 10 a.m., the Sensex was trading with a strength of 0.78 percent and the Nifty was up by 0.75 percent.

By 10 a.m., among the heavyweight stocks in the stock market, Tech Mahindra, Axis Bank, State Bank of India, Trent Limited, and HDFC Bank were trading with gains ranging from 3.64 percent to 1.21 percent. On the other hand, shares of HDFC Life, ITC, Bharti Airtel, Maruti Suzuki, and Hindustan Unilever were trading with declines ranging from 1.34 percent to 0.91 percent.

So far in the trading session, 2,410 shares in the stock market were actively traded. Among them, 1,688 shares were trading profitably in the green, while 722 shares were recording losses in the red. Similarly, out of the 30 shares included in the Sensex, 20 shares were supported by buying and remained in the green zone. Conversely, 10 shares were under selling pressure and traded in the red. In the Nifty, out of 50 shares, 30 were seen trading in the green and 20 in the red.

The BSE’s Sensex opened today at a level of 78,903.09 points, gaining 349.89 points. Immediately after the market opened, selling due to profit booking caused this index to fall to a level of 78,776.06 points. After this decline, buyers took charge and began aggressive purchasing, which caused the index to gain momentum shortly thereafter. Amid continuous buying and selling in the market, by 10 AM, the Sensex was trading at a level of 79,165.95 points, up 612.75 points.

Similarly, the NSE’s Nifty started trading today at a level of 23,949.15 points, rising 97.50 points. However, due to profit booking right after the market opened, this index fell to 23,903.65 points. Nonetheless, buyers began purchasing again, leading to an increase in the index’s movement. After continuous buying and selling in the market, by 10 AM, the Nifty was trading at a level of 24,030.80 points, with a gain of 179.15 points.

Earlier, on the last trading day of the previous week, Thursday, the Sensex closed at a level of 78,553.20 points, up 1,508.91 points or 1.96 percent. Meanwhile, the Nifty ended Thursday’s trading at a level of 23,851.65 points, rising 414.45 points or 1.77 percent.
