Early trading sees pressure; Sensex and Nifty decline

New Delhi, May 15 (H.S.): The domestic stock market is experiencing pressure in early trading today. Initially, trading began with slight gains, but selling pressure quickly led to a decline in stock market indices. After the first hour, the Sensex was down by 0.41%, while the Nifty fell by 0.46%. Major stocks such as JSW Steel, Hero, Tata Motors, Shriram Finance, and Adani Ports saw gains between 0.73% and 2.63%. In contrast, stocks like Power Grid Corporation, Cipla, NTPC, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, and ONGC reported declines between 1.01% and 1.40%.

Across a total of 2,445 traded shares, 1,665 were in the green, indicating profits, while 780 were in the red, reflecting losses. Of the 30 shares in the Sensex, 7 remained positive due to buying support, whereas 23 were negative. For the Nifty, 11 stocks were in the green and 39 in the red.

The BSE’s Sensex initially opened with a gain of 23.87 points at 81,354.43 points but quickly faced selling pressure, dropping to 80,762.16 points around 10 AM. Some buying momentum later improved its position to 80,958.31 points, down 372.25 points at 10:15 AM. Similarly, the Nifty began with a gain of 27.55 points at 24,694.45 points but fell to 24,494.45 points due to selling before recovering slightly to 24,566.40 points, down 100.50 points at 10:15 AM. On the previous trading day, the Sensex closed at 81,330.56 points, while the Nifty finished at 24,666.90 points.
