Eight Naxalites killed in Bokaro clash

DGP and other officials conducting a press conference regarding the Naxal operation.

Ranchi, April 21 (HS): On Monday, security forces made notable progress in the Naxal elimination campaign in Bokaro district, Jharkhand, leading to the death of eight Naxalites during a clash. Among the deceased was a high-value target with a bounty of one crore rupees.

The identities of three Naxalites have been confirmed, while the remaining five remain unidentified. The operation, called ‘Dakabeda’, commenced at 5:30 AM and involved encounters between security forces and the Naxalites, resulting in the recovery of firearms and personal items.

DGP Anurag Gupta reported the successful outcome of the operation, highlighting that among the identified Naxalites were central committee member Vivek, alias Prayag Manjhi, and other notable figures with substantial bounty amounts. Gupta emphasized the operation’s focus on top leaders of the CPI (Maoist) and underscored this achievement as historic for Jharkhand, particularly post-state formation. He expressed that this operation avenged a soldier’s martyrdom in West Singhbhum and affirmed a commitment to eliminating Naxals, urging them to surrender or face consequences.

The DGP also recalled earlier incidents where multiple wanted Naxals were killed, emphasizing a sustained effort against Naxal activities in the region, aiming to rid Jharkhand of the Naxal threat.
