Jhansi,
02 March (HS): Chaos and panic spread in Maharani Laxmibai Medical College when
a 66-year-old patient committed suicide in the bathroom of the ward. His body
was found hanging from a towel tied to the door frame in the bathroom. The
family members alleged that the doctors were not treating him properly. Due to
this, Lakhan became upset and committed suicide. The police is investigating
the matter.
66-year-old
Lakhan Singh, a resident of Nauranga village in Hamirpur, was suffering from
chest pain. Family members said that initially he kept taking painkillers at
home, but when the pain increased, they brought him to Jhansi Medical College
for treatment on February 24. Here the doctor admitted him. His son Ramkumar
stayed with Lakhan to take care of him. Brother Manmohan Singh and his nephew
Devendra came to see him on Saturday night. Manmohan said that brother Lakhan
came back to the bed after using the bathroom in front of him. After this, he
and Devendra went out to get fruits. Then Lakhan went to the bathroom again. He
put a towel on his nose and told his son that there was dirt inside. After
this, he went inside, stood on a bucket, made a noose with a towel on the door
frame and hanged himself. After a while, when a patient went to the bathroom,
he ran out screaming. Hearing the noise, the son went and saw that Lakhan had
died.
Manmohan
alleges that Lakhan was not being treated properly. He says that Lakhan’s face
was swollen and his entire body was filled with water. If he had received
proper treatment, Lakhan would not have committed suicide. The police have
taken the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem.
In
this case, CMS of the medical college, Dr. Sachin Mahur, says that Lakhan
Singh’s lungs were filled with water due to TB. There was water outside the
heart as well. He was undergoing treatment. He said that the allegations of the
family members will be investigated. The police have been informed.
