Election Commission demands 5,921 crore Taka for elections in Bangladesh

Dhaka, February 12 (HS): The Bangladesh Election Commission has demanded about 5,921 crore Taka from the interim government to conduct the 13th parliamentary elections and various other local body elections. Additional Secretary of the Commission KM Ali Nawaz said that about 2,800 crore Taka is estimated to be spent on the parliamentary elections alone.

According to The Daily Star, the commission has sent a proposal to this effect to the interim government. On the other hand, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party has intensified its preparations after the government’s assurance to hold elections by December. The party has demanded from the interim government to announce the election roadmap soon. The party has said that if the interim government does not announce the roadmap, then a front will be opened by organizing rallies in 67 organizational districts. It is noteworthy that on Monday, three leaders of the party met the country’s chief advisor Prof. Mohammad Yunus in this regard.
