
New Delhi, May 21 (H.S): The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), which manages the retirement fund, added a total of 1.458 million members during March. This figure is 1.15 percent higher compared to the same period last year. The EPFO added approximately 754,000 new members in March this year. Compared to February 2025, this number is 2.03 percent higher, and 0.98 percent higher compared to March 2024.
The Ministry of Labor and Employment stated in data released on Wednesday that the increase in the number of new members is due to the growing job opportunities, increasing awareness about employee benefits, and the successful awareness programs of the EPFO.
The ministry noted that this indicates that most of the individuals joining the organized workforce are young. According to the data, there were 445,000 members in the age group of 18-25 among the new members, which means their share among new members was 58.94 percent. Additionally, in March 2025, the total number of members in the age group of 18-25 increased by 4.21 percent on a monthly basis and by 4.73 percent on an annual basis. This indicates that most of the individuals joining the organized workforce are young.
