Excise Minister  Inaugurates New Excise Office in Khordha for Enhanced Enforcement

Bhubaneswar, 20 April (H.S.): In a move to strengthen enforcement against illegal liquor, ganja, and brown sugar trafficking, Odisha Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan inaugurated a newly constructed district Excise Office in Khordha today. This facility aims to improve the functioning and efficiency of the Excise Department across the district.

During the inauguration, the Minister emphasised the government’s commitment to eradicating the illegal trade of narcotics and alcohol in the state. He noted that the Excise Department has been conducting regular raids, seizing contraband, and initiating strict legal actions to combat such activities. The newly established office will play a pivotal role in supporting these ongoing efforts, he added.

The modern facility features a range of advanced infrastructure and amenities, including office chambers for the Superintendent, Excise Sub-Inspectors, and Mobile Unit Inspectors; a conference hall; computer and record rooms; modernised malkhana (evidence storage); rest chambers for officers; separate holding cells for men, women, and differently-abled individuals; dedicated sanitation facilities for all; and a comprehensive data preservation system.

Minister Harichandan expressed confidence that the upgraded infrastructure will enhance coordination and operational capacity within the department, particularly in rural and high-risk areas.
