Chandigarh, March 04 (HS): Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann warned the farmers who are adamant on marching to Chandigarh and said that no one will be given the right to run a parallel government in the state.
Due to the farmers’ movement, Punjab’s image has been tarnished at the national and international level. There is a competition going on among the farmers’ organizations regarding the movements. Due to this, the industry of Punjab is being destroyed.
Bhagwant Mann addressed
to media after visiting the Kharar Tehsil complex in Mohali district on Tuesday. This is the first time that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has spoken against the farmers’ movement. He said that many issues were being discussed in the meeting with farmers on Monday night, but the farmers were not agreeing to withdraw the announcement of marching to Chandigarh. Keeping in mind the public interest, he left the meeting midway.
He said that the industry of Punjab is being destroyed due to the farmers’ movement. Punjab’s transport is coming to an end. Sometimes trains are being stopped, sometimes roads are being stopped. Somewhere NHAI projects are being stopped. Now the situation is such that farmer leaders are staging dharnas in front of immigration offices to shine in politics. Funds are being collected from villages in the name of these dharnas. Farmers have started holding panchayats even in family disputes. This kind of parallel government will not be allowed to run.
He said that if any goods are ordered in Punjab from online sites, then it is found expensive. Due to this the general public is getting upset. Taking a jibe at the farmers’ organizations, the Chief Minister said that today competitions are going on in the name of movement. When the agitation of one organisation starts ending, the other starts preparing. Mann said that the Punjab government is going to build the Dashmesh canal. A new agricultural policy is being brought. Instead of protesting, farmers should give their suggestions for the new policy.
