Panipat, May 17 (H.S.):A controversy erupted at Saraswati Vidya Mandir School when a Sanskrit teacher, Mahjeeb Ansari (Mahi), taught eighth-grade students a line from the ‘Kalma.’ This incident came to light when students hummed the ‘Kalma’ at home, prompting concerned parents to gather at the school and lodge a complaint on Saturday. Following discussions between the parents, school administration, and the teacher, the principal, Indu, decided to dismiss the teacher in response to the parents’ demands. She informed parents that the teacher had been with the school for a year.
The teacher explained that students had inquired about Muslim practices, leading her to share a line from the ‘Kalma.’ The situation escalated, leading the police to the school due to the potential unrest. Parents collectively expressed their discontent, emphasizing that such actions would not be tolerated. The teacher reportedly felt embarrassed by her decision to share the information and acknowledged the parents’ concerns. This incident highlights the sensitivity surrounding religious teachings in educational settings.
