FM inaugurates SBI's Platinum Jubilee celebrations

Mumbai/New Delhi, March 08 (HS): Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman emphasized the need for innovation in the banking sector, speaking during the 70th foundation day celebrations of the State Bank of India (SBI) in Mumbai. She expressed confidence in SBI’s ability to embrace technology, sustainability, and inclusivity as core principles amid a rapidly changing global landscape.

Highlighting SBI’s adaptability and ongoing leadership in the market despite regulatory challenges, she encouraged the sector to continue leading through innovation. During the Platinum Jubilee event, Sitharaman virtually inaugurated 70 SBI branches and 501 Mahila Customer Service Centers nationwide.

Additionally, she announced 17 new corporate social responsibility initiatives aimed at benefiting diverse communities. Earlier, she engaged with ground staff at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, affirming her commitment to supporting the banking sector’s evolution.
