Rio de Janeiro, May 20 (H.S.): Former Brazilian international midfielder Renato Augusto has parted ways with the Rio de Janeiro-based football club Fluminense by mutual agreement. The club announced this information in a brief statement on social media on Monday.
Fluminense did not mention any reason for the departure of the 37-year-old player. In their statement, the club said, Fluminense thanks the player for his contributions and wishes him the best for the future.
Renato Augusto joined Fluminense from Corinthians in January 2024 and played a total of 36 matches across all competitions. His contract was set to last until December 2024, but he left the club early.
In his 20-year professional career, Renato has also played for Flamengo, German club Bayer Leverkusen, and Chinese club Beijing Guoan. He has made 33 international appearances for the Brazilian national team and was part of the squad that reached the quarterfinals in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Following Renato’s decision, speculation about his next move in the football world has begun.
