Former Mexican officer advocating against drugs in Kentucky killed

Mexico City, May 3 (HS): Former officer Ivan Morales Corrales, a symbol of the fight against drugs and cartel violence in Mexico and the United States, has been murdered. The 43-year-old former federal police officer’s vehicle was rammed by an SUV, after which gunmen fired more than a dozen bullets at him. In this ambush, Ivan and an unidentified woman lost their lives. Ivan Morales is survived by his wife, a 9-year-old son, and a 4-year-old daughter.

According to a report by USA Today, the assassins targeted him on April 30. He was the only survivor of the military helicopter attack in 2015. According to two retired U.S. drug agents and Mexican media outlets, gunmen took Corrales’s life in the state of Morelos, about a 2.5-hour drive from Mexico City. On the tenth anniversary of the helicopter attack, Ivan Morales Corrales accused the Jalisco New Generation Cartel of orchestrating the attack, which is considered the most dangerous organization in Mexico. It is feared that he was killed at the hands of this cartel’s henchmen.
