Gas leak from ONGC well in Assam has been stopped after 16 days: Hardeep Puri

New Delhi, June 27 (H.S.): Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced that the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has successfully contained a gas leak explosion at a crude oil well in Sivasagar, Assam, after 16 days without any loss of life or property. The explosion started on June 12 and was controlled at 11:15 AM on Friday.

Puri highlighted that the containment adhered to best practices and involved careful planning by ONGC’s crisis management team and international well control experts, resulting in no injuries or fire. He also expressed gratitude to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and state officials for their ongoing support to the crisis response teams.
