
New Delhi, March 12 (H.S.): The global market is showing weak signals today, following a decline in American markets the previous session, coupled with consistent selling in European markets. Panic over potential economic recession caused Wall Street indices to close lower for the second consecutive day. The S&P 500 fell 0.76% to 5,572.07 points, while the Nasdaq decreased 0.18% to 17,436.10 points. However, Dow Jones futures are currently reflecting a 0.19% increase at 41,513.91 points.
Similarly, the European markets faced significant drops in the last session, with the FTSE index plummeting 1.23% to 8,495.99 points, the CAC index falling 1.33% to 7,941.91 points, and the DAX index declining 1.31% to 22,328.77 points.
In Asia today, trading is mixed; out of nine markets, five are in the red while four show gains. The Straits Times index increased by 0.17% to 3,832.30 points, and the Jakarta Composite climbed 1.04% to 6,614.14 points. The KOSPI is up 1.37% at 2,572.32 points, and the Taiwan Weighted index rose 1.28% to 22,352.80 points. In contrast, Nifty in GIFT is down 0.35%, the Hang Seng fell 0.67%, and the SET Composite dropped 1.55%.
