Governor Emphasizes Equitable Healthcare at Odisha University of Health Sciences Foundation Day

Bhubaneswar, 30 March (H.S.): Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati highlighted the importance of accessible and equitable healthcare across Odisha while addressing the 2nd Foundation Day of Odisha University of Health Sciences (OUHS) at the Odisha State Convention Centre, Loka Seva Bhavan, on Sunday. As the chief guest, he urged stakeholders to ensure that quality healthcare reaches every corner of the state, from urban hospitals to remote villages, bridging disparities and strengthening the health system.

Together, we aspire to build a Viksit Odisha—a developed state marked by excellence in healthcare—and a Viksit Bharat, a nation that is healthy, inclusive, and progressive. This vision is both our commitment and our challenge. It calls on every student, faculty member, and healthcare professional to contribute their best in transforming our society, the Governor stated.

Dr. Kambhampati congratulated the university’s students, faculty, officials, and staff for their contributions to advancing healthcare education and practice in Odisha. Good health is the foundation of a strong society, essential for progress and well-being. As the world evolves, a reliable healthcare system becomes even more vital. I speak not only as your Governor but also as someone who has personally witnessed the unwavering commitment and transformative work of healthcare professionals, he said.

Highlighting the university’s role, he added, This institution is not only a center of academic excellence but also a symbol of hope for our health sector—a sector that is the backbone of a thriving society. By integrating various disciplines of health sciences, OUHS aims to foster a strong ecosystem of learning, innovation, and service.

Dr. Kambhampati also spoke about the vital role of students in shaping the future of healthcare. Students are the best representatives of this university. We must prepare them to face the challenges of their academic and professional journeys. I firmly believe that OUHS will nurture professionals who not only possess deep medical expertise but also embody compassion, ethics, and dedication to service.

On the occasion, Padma Shri Professor (Dr.) Ashok Mohapatra delivered the keynote address. Other dignitaries, including Director General, Central Council for Research in Ayurveda Sciences, Professor (Vaidya) Rabinarayan Acharya, and Vice-Chancellor of Madhusudan Law University, Professor Kamal Jeet Singh, also addressed the gathering.

OUHS Vice-Chancellor Professor Manas Ranjan Sahoo delivered the welcome address. The event also saw the inauguration of the university’s journal, magazine, e-journal, and e-magazine by Governor Dr. Kambhampati.
