Govt remains steadfast in reducing regulatory burdens, says FM

New Delhi, March 04 (HS): Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Tuesday that the government is committed to reducing the regulatory burden and increasing trust at the level of governance. Along with this, steps are being taken to make India an export friendly economy. The Finance Minister said that the government is working to promote trust-based governance.

The Finance Minister said this while addressing the post-budget webinar on the topic ‘Regulatory, Investment and Ease of Doing Business (EODB) Reforms’ through video conferencing. She said that the government is committed to simplifying the regulatory processes. Apart from this, the government is preparing to introduce the Jan Vishwas Bill 2.0 to decriminalize more than 100 provisions.

In her address, she said that Through the budget announcements, we are taking several steps towards making India a seamless and export-friendly economy, where businesses are free to work on innovation and expansion, and not on paperwork and penalties.

Addressing a post-budget webinar, She said that a strong manufacturing sector free from unnecessary regulatory barriers will attract both domestic and foreign investments, drive economic growth and establish India as a reliable global player.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed post-budget webinars on ‘MSMEs as engines of growth’, ‘Manufacturing, Exports and Nuclear Power Mission’ and ‘Regulatory, Investment and Ease of Doing Business Reforms’. These webinars were attended by various government departments, regulators, private sector experts, industry representatives and subject experts to align efforts for effective implementation of budget announcements.
