
Bhubaneswar/New Delhi, 7 April (H.S.): Bhubaneshwar celebrated the practice of Common Yoga Protocol at Kalinga Stadium, with over 6000 yoga enthusiasts participating. Union State Minister of Ayush, Prataprao Jadhav, launched the ‘Harit Yoga’ initiative by planting medicinal plants alongside other dignitaries, who distributed these plants to attendees.
The Minister remarked on the global popularity of yoga, citing Prime Minister Modi’s emphasis on fitness and the theme of IDY 2025, ‘Yoga for one earth One health.’ He linked the health of individuals to the health of the planet, stating that just as yoga benefits the body and mind, tree planting nourishes Earth, promoting a sustainable future.
The ‘Harit Yoga’ is one of ten Signature Events under IDY 2025, encouraging tree planting as a commitment to both personal and planetary wellness, echoing Modi’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ vision. He also referenced the successful ‘Prakruti Parikshan Abhiyan,’ which involved over 1.29 crore participants and earned recognition in the Guinness Book of World Records. Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister, Pravati Parida, underscored yoga’s transformative power for a healthier lifestyle.
Member of Parliament Sambit Patra highlighted the global success of Yoga, noting that in 2014, 177 nations agreed on India’s proposal to establish June 21 as the International Day of Yoga (IDY). Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha from the Ministry of Ayush expressed excitement over the record participation anticipated for the 11th IDY edition. The event featured several dignitaries, including Monalisa Dash, Joint Secretary, Ayush, and Bhubaneshwar Mayor Ms. Sulochna Das. Following their addresses, Dr. Kashinath Samagandi led a live demonstration of the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP), observed by over 6000 Yoga enthusiasts at Kalinga Stadium.
The CYP, crafted with expert input, aims to popularize practices like Yoga Nidra and Pranayama, enhancing physical and mental well-being. Additionally, over 5000 medicinal plants were distributed, merging Yoga with environmental awareness. The event set the stage for IDY-2025, with ten unique signature initiatives planned, including a worldwide synchronized demonstration, global partnerships for Yoga sessions, development of 1000 Yoga Parks, and inclusive programs for various communities.
