Lucknow, 14 May (HS): The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High
Court dismissed a new suit regarding Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s citizenship
on Wednesday, after the petitioner tried to withdraw it. However, the court
allowed the petitioner the right to submit a review petition against the
previously disposed of subject. S Vignesh Shishir of Karnataka filed the new
plea, claiming to have new evidence in the case. He also asked the court to bar
Gandhi from traveling to other countries until his appeal was resolved. The
bench remarked that because a similar plea had previously been decided on May
5, the petitioner might file a review petition against the ruling. As a result,
the court rejected the new plea as withdrawn.
On May 5, the court dismissed Shishir’s original petition,
allowing him to pursue additional legal options. Any representation made by the
petitioner to the Central government on the subject might be investigated by a
competent body, the judgment stated.
