NEW DELHI, 14 March (H.S.) : Holi Milan celebrations are taking place at numerous
locations throughout Delhi-NCR. However, in certain areas, the vibrancy of the
Holi festival appears to be diminishing. This decline is attributed to a
reduction in the number of shops selling colours in the market. Shopkeepers who
have managed to set up their stalls report that inflation has led to a decrease
in colour sales this year. Many consumers are opting to purchase colours and
related items through online platforms. Additionally, there is a growing
awareness of the adverse effects of chemical-based colours, prompting people to
avoid them, which has contributed to the fading essence of the Holi festival
this season.
This year, there is a significant demand for the Prime
Minister’s mask in the market for both adults and children during Holi.
Additionally, pichakaree featuring cartoon characters and electronic versions
are available to appeal to younger audiences. A wide range of colours, pichakaree,
and masks can be found. Retailers have adorned their shops to reflect the
preferences and demands of their customers. Stores selling colours are eagerly
anticipating shoppers. Shopkeepers have noted that Holi celebrations have
changed compared to previous years, with many individuals showing hesitance in shopping
colours and gulal. Even with Holi occurring just two days ago and today, the shoppers
remains notably low.
