Jammu, Sept 26:
A storm has erupted in Jammu after serious allegations surfaced against prominent businessman Rakesh Choudhary.
In a viral video, Choudhary is seen flaunting his influence, admitting that he owns a revolver and even threatening to harm himself. The video also shows his aggressive behaviour at the site, which has sparked widespread concern.
The most troubling aspect is Choudhary’s claim that a Member of Parliament personally called the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jammu to halt an anti-encroachment drive. While the allegation has not been officially confirmed, it has triggered public demands for a probe into phone records and communications. The lack of clarity over which political figure was allegedly involved has raised sharp questions about interference in official proceedings.
Adding to the controversy, reports suggest that BJP MLA Vikram Randhawa also reached the spot, further fuelling suspicions of political support behind the businessman.
Despite these pressures, Deputy Commissioner Jammu Rakesh Minhas has been widely appreciated for refusing to yield to political or personal influence and ensuring that official action continued. Local residents have praised his stand, describing it as a rare example of administrative integrity at a time when governance is under scrutiny.
