Imphal, 12 March (HS): Security forces have recovered a huge quantity of arms and explosives during a search operation in Imphal East district of Manipur. This action was taken in Keirao Wangkhem area under Irilbung police station, police said on Wednesday.

During the search, security forces detained a person and recovered a large quantity of weapons, ammunition and other military material. The recovered items include 7.62 mm SLR rifle, 5.56 mm INSAS rifle, .22 rifle, 2 bore double barrel gun, 36 number hand grenades, stun grenades, 51 mm HE mortar shells, various types of bullets and cartridges, wireless sets, bullet proof jackets and helmets.

The arrested person and the recovered weapons have been handed over to the concerned authorities for further legal action. Security forces say that this type of action will continue in future so that peace and law and order is maintained in the state.
