
Dubai, March 09 (H.S.): In the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, New Zealand batted first and scored 251 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 50 overs, setting India a target of 252 runs. India’s Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav excelled with the ball, each claiming two wickets.
Rachin Ravindra got New Zealand off to a fine start,scoring quickly to reach 51 runs in just seven overs. Chakravarthy struck first, dismissing Will Young LBW for 15 runs. Kuldeep then made a crucial breakthrough, bowling Ravindra for 37 runs on his first delivery, before also removing Kane Williamson, caught off his own bowling for 11 runs.
Ravindra Jadeja added to India’s success by dismissing Tom Latham LBW for 14 runs in the 24th over. The consistent fall of wickets hampered New Zealand’s innings, with Chakravarthy taking out Glenn Phillips for 34 runs in the 38th over.
Daryl Mitchell batted resiliently, scoring 63 runs off 101 balls, while Michael Bracewell added a late 53 runs off 40 balls, helping New Zealand reach 251. In total, Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets each while Jadeja and Mohammad Shami claimed one wicket each for India.
