JERUSALEM, 27 October (H.S.): The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Sunday that it had killed two Hezbollah operatives in targeted strikes in southern Lebanon. The military operation, which took place on October 26, 2025, eliminated individuals linked to weapons smuggling and represented a significant violation of the November 2024 ceasefire agreement.
In a statement, the IDF identified the operatives as Ali Hussein Al-Mousawi and Abd Mahmoud Al-Sayed. Al-Mousawi was allegedly responsible for purchasing and smuggling weapons for Hezbollah between Syria and Lebanon, while Al-Sayed acted as the militant group’s local representative in the Al-Bayada area. The IDF stated that the activities of both men constituted a breach of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon.
The strikes occurred as Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz and US Deputy Envoy to the Middle East Morgan Ortagus were touring the Lebanon border. They were briefed on the operation by IDF commanders during their visit, which also included US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee and other senior military officials. The high-level visit underscored the ongoing tensions and frequent Israeli actions against Hezbollah’s efforts to re-establish its military capabilities in the region since the ceasefire.
According to the Lebanese Health Ministry, Israeli strikes on Sunday killed a total of three people in southern and eastern Lebanon.
