
New Delhi, May 16 (HS): The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) has inaugurated its inaugural foreign campus in Dubai, located in the India Pavilion at Expo City. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal expressed his satisfaction at this milestone, highlighting the significance of expanding IIFT’s global footprint and enhancing India’s role in international trade education. The establishment of the Dubai campus received approval from the Ministry of Education and necessary clearances from various ministries. This development aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, promoting the internationalization of Indian educational institutions and establishing global learning hubs.
The Dubai campus aims to cater to the educational needs of Indian expatriates and international learners, thereby fortifying India’s academic presence in the Gulf region. Minister Goyal praised IIFT for this significant achievement, viewing it as a reflection of NEP 2020’s vision and a step towards bolstering India-UAE relations. He underscored its role in nurturing future business leaders. Congratulating IIFT on this expansion, Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal noted this marks an important milestone in the institution’s 62-year history. IIFT Vice Chancellor Prof. Rakesh Mohan Joshi reaffirmed the commitment to establishing IIFT as a premier institution in international trade and excellence. This new campus is set to elevate India’s educational heritage globally.
