IMD forecasts temperature rise in Odisha starting March 8

Bhubaneswar, 6 March (H.S.): The Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has forecasted a rise in temperatures across Odisha starting from March 8. According to the prediction, temperatures in western Odisha are expected to increase significantly, with some areas potentially reaching temperatures above 40°C on March 6 and 7.

Districts likely to experience these high temperatures include Balangir, Titlagarh, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Sambalpur, Malkangiri, and Boudh.

In contrast, the coastal regions of Odisha are expected to see temperatures below 35°C, with districts like Paradip, Puri, Gopalpur, Chatrapur, and Nayagarh experiencing a drop to around 32°C.

From March 8 onwards, western Odisha will continue to see rising temperatures, with areas such as Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Balangir, Subarnapur, Boudh, Phulbani, and Titlagarh experiencing elevated heat levels.

On Wednesday, Boudh recorded the highest temperature at 38.8°C, followed by Malkangiri at 37.5°C and Angul at 37.1°C.

The weather office also indicated that the weather in coastal and northern Odisha will remain mostly dry in the coming days.
