Imran Khan ruled out  resumption of  dialogue, possibility of talks with govt ends

Islamabad, 10 February (HS): Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has once again rejected the possibility of talks with the Shahbaz Sharif government. The hopes of reconciliation between his party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the government are now almost over.

Senior PTI leader Umar Ayub Khan made it clear that his party will no longer hold any kind of talks with the government. Talking to a television channel, Ayub said, The phase of dialogue is now over.

He also said that political dialogue is not a mere formality, but it requires determination and commitment, which was not seen on the part of the government.

Criticizing the attitude of the government, Ayub said that PTI had started the talks in good faith, but the expected will and seriousness was lacking on the part of the government, due to which the talks could not reach any conclusion.

This statement comes at a time when talks between the PTI and the government have stalled. Talks between the two sides began in December 2024, but now the PTI has refused to participate in further rounds. The party has cited the government’s failure to form a judicial commission to investigate the May 9 riots and the November protests last year as the reason for withdrawing from the talks.
