



Assam, 1 April (H.S.): A special health and welfare camp was organized today at Pandu Adarsha Higher Secondary School under the initiative of Kamrup Metropolitan District Health Committee and with the support of the Western Mandal. The camp was inaugurated by District Commissioner Sumit Chattawan, who attended the event as the chief guest.
To provide free medical services to all citizens of the district, the District Health Committee has planned to organize a total of 40 special health and welfare camps under the wards and village panchayats of the metropolitan area. In today’s first camp, expert doctors provided medical services for maternity health, child health, skin diseases, eye and ear-related issues. Additionally, tests for sickle cell anemia, HIV, and other diseases were conducted.
Especially for citizens above 30 years of age, free screenings for non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and cancer were provided. Awareness was also raised about mental health and the benefits of yoga. Moreover, arrangements were made for those who did not have Ayushman and ABHA cards to get their cards issued.
The awareness session held at the camp was attended by District Development Commissioner Parijat Bhuyan, Jalukbari Sub-Divisional Commissioner Dr. Jibankrishna Goswami, councillors of wards 3, 5, 7, and 8, recently retired Joint Health Services Director Dr. Uday Shankar Medhi, Acting Joint Health Services Director Dr. Apurva Krishna Sharma, Pandu FRU Deputy Superintendent Dr. Kumud Chandra Deka, along with several doctors and health workers.
