– England won against India at Lord’s for the first time since 2018.
London, July 15 (H.S.): In the fourth Test at Lord’s, England triumphed over India by 22 runs, marking their first victory against India at this venue since 2018, and India’s fifth defeat while chasing at Lord’s. Both teams scored 387 runs overall, but England’s second-innings total of 192 seemed small yet proved challenging for the Indian batsmen. India’s chase faltered early, with Yashasvi Jaiswal not scoring, and Karun Nair contributing only 14 runs.
Captain Shubman Gill struggled again, managing just 16 and 6 runs. At a crucial point, India’s score plummeted to 82/7, needing 111 to win. Ravindra Jadeja’s courageous knock of 61 runs provided some hope, aided by Nitish Kumar Reddy’s 13 runs and a small partnership.
However, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj added minimal runs, struggling to save wickets. For England, Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer each took three wickets in the second innings, while Brandon Cars claimed two, and Chris Woakes and Shoaib Bashir took one apiece.
