India assures Cooperation following Nepali student’s death in Bhubaneshwar

India pledges total support following Nepali student’s death.

Kathmandu, May 2 (H.S.): The Government of India has conveyed profound sorrow over the tragic death of Nepali student Prisa Sah at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Odisha. It has promised the bereaved family and authorities full cooperation in the investigation.

The Ministry of External Affairs expressed condolences and has been in contact with the Odisha state government since the incident was reported. The Odisha police are thoroughly investigating the circumstances surrounding the student’s death, and state officials have committed to supporting the family.

The safety of international students is a priority for the Indian government. Continuous coordination is being undertaken with Nepali officials, KIIT management, and local authorities.

Prisa Sah, an 18-year-old first-year undergraduate, was found hanging in her hostel room on May 1. The Nepali embassy in New Delhi confirmed her death and is taking the case seriously, engaging in investigation efforts.

The embassy has conferred with academic officials and hostel management about the incident and informed Prisa’s mother, Mrs. Neetu Devi Mandal. It is maintaining ongoing collaboration with the Odisha government and relevant Indian authorities. Nepali Ambassador Dr. Shankar Sharma has paid tribute to Prisa Sah and extended condolences to her grieving family.
